This is an exact encapsulation of why I moved to Bluesky.

No amount of handwringing in the Atlantic about how I owe some eternal Promethean suffering to the discourse is going to make me stay on a site I hate, that stopped doing anything for me professionally years ago.
Well – no. Bluesky may or may not be, as one centre-right friend who felt unwelcome put it, “self-righteous island”. But the idea that’s why we went is nonsense. That I’ve largely stopped posting on a site that’s done more to shape my career and social circle than the rest of the internet combined is less about avoiding rival opinions (I love arguing with people who are wrong!) than with the fact the site simply became unusable. It stopped generating the things (good jokes, interesting debate, clicks) I wanted; it became extremely good at generating the things (racists, pornbots, racist pornbots) I did not.
Thanks Kevin! I think I’m entering my “embrace the nerdy” phase of life!

I'm absolutely loving this podcast, it's so nerdy.
This is my thing that I made because I wanted to make something of substance. It’s about comedy, which might seem frivolous, but actually I think comedy opens up conversations on the whole of human nature: podfollow.com/the-comedy-b...

This is great! It’s hitting a sweet spot between my enjoyment of comedy and my sociology degree.

I’d love you to watch/listen, or if you have already please rate and review. It’s been a monumental slog to make, and now the job is sharing it far and wide.
I wanted it to be a cross between the “two comedians navel gazing insightfully about their own comedy” genre and a history/education podcast/YouTube show.

I think it’s come out pretty well.
Each episode is a well researched and explained dive into a single aspect of the world of comedy. Discussing the nature of what makes us laugh, how it’s doing it and often what this reflects about the world around the comedy.

For a lot of them yeah 🤣 although I just finished checking off the last 3 episodes in the series and they have a bit more obvious answers!
Ah I’m so glad you’re loving it! Have you heard ydays ep on Incongruity? I think by the end of the three I felt like I knew how I felt on comic theory but each theory alone doesn’t quite fit the bill entirely
I heard Gabby Logan ask him about it on a podcast and you've never listened to someone sidestep a question with more grace. An art.
Oh man the hours of my life taken up by doing The Comedy Bureau. I didn't feel not busy before this but now suddenly every waking moment is getting something finessed for the show. I'm really enjoying it now it's out and you can actually see people enjoying it
If I say, “why yes I am allergic to tea and milk?” Will I still get my tea?

Is it just to be warned of ingredients by them if I were to have an allergy?
I was in a long queue at a railway station coffee bar and I ordered a tea.

“With milk?”
“Yes?”
“Any allergies?”
“No, just the tea please.”

He was unimpressed and I was, of course, being a less than model customer BUT it got me thinking.

What happens if I say yes?
It really and truly is. The next three weeks are really quite nerdy
The next episode of The Comedy Bureau is out tomorrow… we’re starting a 3 part mini series with each one focusing on a different one of the big three comic theories.

Tomorrow is Incongruity.

You asked for more weeds. We’re delivering big weeds.
I’m confident it’s made from the skin of Randall from Monsters Inc
But did you watch it with people in the house?
