Sunrise photos from the Boulder Fairgrounds osprey nest. The ospreys are long gone on migration, but there are of course visitors.
We've had some nice sun-rises (and -sets). Here are a couple Great Blue Heron shots for @everyheron.bsky.social #birds
Great Blue Heron flying over lovely Cattail Pond in Boulder. Great Blue Heron standing on the Osprey Nest.
I just turned 70 and maybe I should move there because in the U.S. I get squat.
Stopped at “old white people” maybe you’re being funny. Or maybe not.
I guess my old Thinkpad is still useful
My local Wild Turkeys couple is back from wherever they go in the summer months... a week or so ago they just showed up again, hanging around an intersection (that is often fairly busy). Here they are walking up to my car. #birds
A wild turkey couple on the street outside my car.
I have photos from a year or two ago of "Fred" messing with the sticks and even flying off with a chosen stick or two. Maybe that's part of the appeal?
Fred, who also identifies as Frieda, making themself comfortable at the Boulder Fairground Osprey Nest. For years we have called the visiting Great Blue Herons Fred but are being less gender specific now. Webcam Screengrab. #birds @everyheron.bsky.social
Fred/Frieda is likely a 2-year old and they are really enjoying the vacated osprey nest. One magnificent Great Blue Heron standing on the osprey nest.

The primary feature for telling the age of this heron is the crown stripe. In an adult it is pure white or almost pure white, and in a juvenile, solid gray (and juveniles are brownish all over). The mix of part gray and part white on the crown (as with today's visitor) is found in immature herons in their second fall (yearlings).
This is so insane. Company I worked for (a multinational) would never condone this.
Why not have the landlord just freaking call HR for verification?

I think Mick would love this!
Yes! Two of three survived brilliantly and fledged.
Admittedly I sometimes talk out loud to my phone and I may have said something like “that’s one handsome tuxie”
Sophie looking at me as I look at Oscar. I think she’s jealous.
