This has been an ongoing issue with the thinking about immigration.

Those who go on about “we should only accept highly skilled immigrants with skills that we need” are basically demanding that the unskilled jobs are left to British people.

The deportation order is based on Vedam’s conviction for murder—a crime he did not actually commit and for which he’s now been wholly exonerated. He entered the US at 9 months old and was a legal permanent resident before his conviction. We are so, so, so far from the light of justice.

I *know* for sure that I’m going to get responses like “But my email address is case insensitive”, and “But doesn’t everybody in practice handle the local mailbox case inventively”, etc.

The answer to the second is “almost certainly, yes”, but you cannot rely on it.

Email addresses are NOT case insensitive.

The domain (the part after the ‘@‘ symbol is case insensitive).

The handling of the local mailbox (the part before the ‘@‘ symbol) depends entirely on how the people who own the domain have decided to handle the local mailbox.
