this is the most powerful and cogent argument I’ve read on why not to rank Cuomo. simply: he hates NYC. Read this thread.
As we head to Election Day, for folks who voted early, thank you. I know some folks have not yet made up their minds. I am making an appeal to you.

Please do not rank Cuomo. I have worked with every single one of the candidates for mayor. I will tell you he does not like us.
This looks so interesting! Cannot wait to read!
Bit of an impulse buy from @dukepress.bsky.social but how can anyone resist a book that is, in part, about “Ottoman debt and finance” — certainly not this guy! www.dukeupress.edu/on-the-semic...
I can’t believe I could just walk to the Süleymaniye on bayram and then have this little creature come sit in my arms in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Nice böyle tatlı anlarla dolu bayramlara
Can we please find a way to write articles so we don’t have to cite everything ever written on the topic, and struggle to find ways to nicely say why they’re wrong.
Canceled all my plans to work on an article and I have one (excellent) introductory paragraph to show for it.

Am still doing life wrong.
Levels of ridiculousness I can’t deal with. Now we need people to assign them so AI can make up “book reports” for students who don’t read and professors who don’t grade.
This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?
Love to see my book reviewed in the company of great books by Will Smiley and Vladimir Hamed-Troyansky.
Thank you, @mcerovic.bsky.social for your engagement and framing in terms of transimperial history.

I struggled to divide student into groups to discuss four themes yesterday. I could not do the math. That’s how tired I am.
This man then got on the subway and made jokes involving knight puns for two stops. As a pun-averse person in academia, I don’t think I deserved any of this.
Teşekkürler! Yaşlandığım için artık “cümlemize” gibi şeyler diyesim geliyor :-)
Turned a thousand years old today and walked 12k steps after throwing myself a dinner and can definitely say I feel my age.
Just googled “how do you know if your headache is an aneurysm.” Current stress level.
Ice cream truck? Police helicopter?
Have been screaming inside all day thinking about the kind of person who goes to talks and steals ideas. Then they write - and because no one writes critical book reviews - they get away with it again and again.

I see a lot of you are worried about your stocks so I’m glad I invested all my money in the one asset that will NEVER decline in value: tulips
100% this. I can’t imagine studying languages, doing research, or writing my book without FLAS, Fulbright-Hays, NEH, and the defunct SSRC humanities fellowships. It kills me that grad students and junior scholars don’t have these opportunities.
Pour one out tonight not only for the thousands of fantastic scholars whose NEH grants were wrongly terminated, but also for all of the junior scholars who have never—and now may never in their lifetimes—receive federal support for their research
Wondering if I should order a case of Campari — or let tariffs make me into a better Muslim.

Destroy this myth. Please share if you have visited and researched in a library this past year! RT And give a shout out to your favorite library you have ever visited.
I feel like they should be flanked by horses or the robot dogs (?) they wasted millions of dollars on.
I was in Seoul in 2016 (?) for an SSRC Inter-Asian connections workshop. Maybe you could look up the program and see if there might be any contacts there who are useful. Cemil Aydin was involved.
