We made it to Paradise to pick up pastries. Here's where we drove to. A little place called Mountain River, by the creek. Tasmania

I always found kids are usually happy with simple cheap gifts. So long as they are given something fun and something yummy 😋

Well financially supporting your relatives would be a far more meaningful thing to do than buy stuff. Shows the kids in the family what is important in caring relationships.

Might cook Persian lentil rice tomorrow night. It's call Adas Polo and has "tahdig", crispy bottom rice or potatoes. I was taught to cook Persian food in my 20s by friends from Iran. An interesting cuisine. My friends are/were Bahai, escaped from Iran - persecuted

What they're doing in Portland is great. I know what you're saying. I like to think I'd be in a resistance if needed in my country. The women in th French resistance always impressed me.

Just sold my little blue car 😢. All the money will go to a painter who's painting our shed and inside a room. Oh well

Yes that's great but obviously there are people like myself who can't do "high aerobic fitness" to get that benefit due to mobility or other issues like heart /severe pain

I/we see the protesters and people speaking out but sadly more may be needed. The problem for all people with emerging authoritarian regimes is the authorities suppress and control and instil fear through showing examples of how they can harm. Eventually many people grow quiet.

Our Huon Valley garden has thousands of bulbs, multiplied over the 80 years this home has been here in what had been orchard land. We have these pop up in a certain order every year. They've been wonderful.

I hear the wind
That Tasmanian wind cutting across island
bending forests
Breaking trees and human plans
Birds huddle in nests
Wind crossing ocean and land
Day after day, then calm will come
bringing warmth and end of Spring

Your inflated view of how great your country is, how superior, is evident in what you just wrote. Many of us in other countries feel WE would fight much harder against authoritarianism rising than we see your people doing. Wish you well but drop the idealism and you'll see things more clearly.

This is the first time, the first year I've had three close friends or relatives hospitalised with pneumonia from influenza.
They have all ages a decade IMHO.
