How does your brain decide what you like and dislike— and why can those feelings flip after a bad experience?

Read @pennngg.bsky.social student Lucas Tittle's post to explore the neural machinery behind valence and its flexibility.

Sign-and goal-tracking in humans using implicit eye-tracking, food pellets, I mean m&ms 😉, and naturalistic fMRI paradigm. Sign-tracking associated with adiposity and altered functional connectivity 🧠

Sign- vs. goal-tracking is associated with greater adiposity and altered functional connectivity in response to a naturalistic food paradigm
Our modern food environment is full of highly palatable, ultra-processed foods that influence our eating behaviors. The reinforcement learning framewo…

🍔 News: During exposure to fast food commercials, connectome predictive modeling predicts body mass gain. Not in the paper; I think CPM explains more variance than standard contrast approaches I've seen. Interesting question to compare them directly. #neuroscience

I have a (very talented) RA looking to get her PhD, but gets intimated in sending me her writing to work up a manuscript to the point where it falls off the map. It’s always great work and I’m a softy, any advice? I’ve tried a bunch of approaches.
