I’ve read a few books by T. Kingfisher, so I’m interested in where this series goes vs how much I liked this. It could have been a novella/prequel because the world that’s laid out is excellent, but the plot felt rushed. The side characters shined so I’ll continue this next year!

I give tons of credit to romance and romantasy readers. Not only do you have to review a book by the usual plot, characters, prose, but also by how good the romance element was itself. It truly adds such depth to enjoyment of a book and can be a turn off (literally) when done poorly.
