pnpm v10.16.0 adds "minimumReleaseAge", a setting for defining how long a version has to have been published before pnpm will install it.
A nice countermeasure against accidental installs of short-lived compromised packages before they get taken down. Not a 100% fix, but a great additional step!

It makes me sad. While Claude Code was like, "You're absolutely right! You're the best! Such a brilliant idea!", Codex is more like, "Meh, this is the update. Don't thank me. Bye."

We can now use our ChatGPT subscription to access Codex 😎.
I have downgraded my Claude subscription, as I was a bit disappointed by Opus and surprised by GPT-5 when it comes to code. Having both should be enough for now.

For coding, I was quite happy with Claude Sonnet. Then I tried Claude Opus, but I was not really convinced. Since then, I've tried GPT-5, and wow! It's like I always start coding with Sonnet, but once it starts to be blocked, I finish with GPT-5, and it works quite well. Hard to stick to one model.

I think I have never had so much fun coding for ages since AI. It's quick, it's easy, and it can sometimes be creative. It helps me start many small projects I've had for ages, and instead of spending my whole weekend on them, which I don't want to do, it's like 2 hours and boom, it's done.

What's the carbon footprint of using ChatGPT or Gemini? [August 2025 update] | annotated by Erwann
The energy use “per query” is possibly 10 times lower than estimated in the previous article. Google estimates that its median text query uses around 33-times less energy than 12 months ago.

I was struggling with Claude Sonnet 4 on a specific element (web coding), and GPT-5 saved me. It's funny how depending on the model, each of them has its pros and cons.

When you're an experienced software engineer, AI narrows the gap between effort and result, and this is very satisfying. I used to stop or feel discouraged from continuing a project due to the effort needed to code to achieve something. Frameworks and libraries help, but AI is on another level.

Isn't it strange to be fascinated by AI, knowing it's bad for the environment and harms our critical thinking? It creates a unique mindset, and many view it as a source of truth. Yet, you also know it's the next big thing, and if you don't adapt, you'll become outdated. It's scary.
