You own a store that sells fancy wines and other alcohols. You put a sign in the window saying ‘free spirit with every purchase’.

It’s cheaper than hiring someone to cleanse and exorcise the building.

Israel is carrying out mass murder as the world watches.
#WATCH | Israel continues to destroy all traces of life in the besieged Gaza Strip. Despite the formal ceasefire, the IDF continue to destroy Palestinian residential neighborhoods, detonating robots loaded with tons of explosives, enough to raze an entire neighborhood.

A woman and small child are playing a game of tantrum chicken on the street and I wonder who is going break first. Child doesn’t want to do whatever the adult is telling them and is refusing to walk. Adult is refusing to give in. Child is sitting on the floor.

Pls pray that next year I can get my nails done again lol. It’s been over 18 months and my hands are extra ugggggly when my nails aren’t done

There is this sole charge nanny job where you have to relocate to Saudi Arabia, but it’s one month on, one month off. The child has two Nannies. And yeah, that’s good it has two consistent adults in its life but omg, after a while I would hate my month off bc I’d miss the child so much lol.

A big white floofy dog just barked very angrily at a woman passing by, only her, there are lots of us around. I am wondering what crimes against humanity she has committed….

(They owner kept complete control of the dog, it didn’t move an inch from him so don’t whine at me about unruly dogs)

A combination of all three plus: we have become so spoiled and entitled and expect answers be fed to us rather than doing the work.
And I don't know if the answer is: everyone is too traumatized to do work and we need to reinvent society. Or if it's more like: generations are losing their cognitive abilities and willpower due to destructive technologies. Or: we all have post-viral brain damage. Or: all of the above.

wtf???? No novel? No extended reading? No specialised reading??? How is it an English course then???
At this point, our intro comp/first-year English course has been so heavily revised, it no longer includes a novel, or "extended reading" of any kind, no "specialized" or "historical" reading, mostly in-class assignments, no research essay...and we are still seeing a 40-50% rate of AI misconduct.

As someone who adores reading and writing, the current world we living in has made it so that my response to “what are you reading?” has more often than not been ‘nothing’ because my brain is utterly broken by what’s going on atm.

(Unlike the students in this thread tho, I refuse to use any AI)
When I ask them: "What are you reading? What are you watching? What are you listening to?" Often, the answer is: nothing. Which has a direct effect on their over-use of prompts and AI, because they can't think of ideas, because they are literally not engaging with a single figurative thing.

This thread is fascinating because I work in a public facing job and I see the same thing in the older generations too as well as the younger generation too. A complete inability or lack of desire, to think for themselves, to do the bare minimum.
It's like they just keep...forgetting? Or they read the instructions and completely disregard them, even knowing that they can't pass the assignment without demonstrating really clear skills (citing material, writing on a course text, etc.). They just...don't do it. And don't seem to care.

Bluesky I want you to be my advent calendar. Each day I will pretend to open a door and you will show me a cute lil animal and I will squeal in delight. Okay? Okay.

Wish the people in charge would fire people when a pattern of behaviour emerges. Her jokes, her bigotry, her ‘views’ are not new. Why has she been able to keep her job this long???
