“These unfolding revelations have transformed the dismissal history; what was once seen as the solo action of an isolated governor-general, we now recognise as a carefully planned vice-regal intervention steeped in secrecy, collusion and intrigue”
We must learn from this

A slap on the wrist behind closed doors undermines the case put forward by Finance that the culture of PwC is all cleaned up, which was their justification for allowing PwC back into the fold of government contracts. #auspol
Good news. Sad it took so long and at great personal cost. Things need to be changed.
It is time for that history to be recognised. Labelling such recognition as a Hindutva vendetta and politically motivated is not doing justice to the history.
The referred article seems to start with and glorify the Mughals. Yes, Mughals are part of India’s history, at times quite violent and destructive history, but India existed and had a long Hindu history that the Mughals actively destroyed and post independent India ignored.
It took the UK 77 years to recognise a country it colonised and then appropriated to someone else?

86% of Australians want stronger legal protections for whistleblowers, yet the major parties are both happy to prosecute whistleblowers.

The crossbench has been pushing for better protections in law and a whistleblower protection authority👇

Policy of the Day: Protecting whistleblowers

Rather than protecting whistleblowers and the important role they play in stopping corruption, our Government is prosecuting them.

86% of Australians want stronger legal protections for whistleblowers, our research shows. #auspol
Was there ever a Court decision on the Brittany Higgins defamation case?
Agree 100%
It's perfectly legal to lie in a political ad in Australia.

Companies can't lie about their products, so why can parties lie about their opponent's policies - or their own?

Australia needs national truth in political advertising laws.

One reason I won’t be voting for Labor (or LNP). Setting up an incompetent NACC is unforgiveable! #NACC #Robodebt

History shows every previous first home buyers scheme had boosted market values by more than the grant amount, senior economist @mattgrudnoff.bsky.social explained.

‘Useless at best harmful at worst’ claim economists assessing short to medium term impact of the major parties' housing policies ⤵️
Economists warn Lib, Labor housing pledges come with risks
Any savings made by young home buyers as part of new housing pledges committed by both major parties would be counteracted by price hikes across the country, analysts say.

Initiatives that increase demand will drive up house prices. Governments should focus on supply to dampen prices - more land, cut planning restrictions etc. But the housing lobby will oppose this!

The NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal has just endorsed "the Hollowmen" practice of walking politically sensitive documents through Cabinet solely to give them a 'Cabinet-in-confidence' stamp and block FOI scrutiny 🤦‍♂️. Appeal likely! #auspol #nswpol #FOI #GIPA

I have found the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal to be an apologist for the wrong-doers, and more focused on closing complaints than delivering justice. It uses its processes to frustrate and bully complainants into accepting sub-optimal outcomes or withdrawing their case.

It seems the Chinese also know a thing or two about reciprocal tariffs! So imports from both countries cost 34% more, who benefits? #tariffs #tax

Australians have a lot to be proud of, including our Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). The US drug companies want to water it down, and we need our elected leaders to be brave in defending it. In an increasingly dangerous world, we will need leaders to be braver than they have been for decades
