A neat and fun thing about being able to read katakana is getting to squint until English snaps into focus, but the problem is that katakana is useful for all non-Japanese words and also some Japanese words so inevitably sometimes you end up like "what the fuck is ボンジューア supposed to mean"

Any spell cast above level one now has to succeed at a luck roll (higher level higher DC), on failure randomly casting a low level spell from the recovery mode table instead, and on failure of ten or greater detonating for 3d12 "(null pointer exception)" damage (reflex save doubles)

If you avoid a particular unit test encounter, you get an optional fight at the end where every round goblins spawn that will explode in a 10ft blast upon death or within one turn, whichever comes first. The fight lasts until the wizard makes enough arcana checks to revert to the last stable build.

D&D plot hook, a junior wizard hires you to navigate the tricks and traps that the senior wizard installed so one couldn't just push spell changes directly to prod.

The junior wizard however has some small changes that shouldn't impact anything, so why bother the big guy with an MR (mage request)

All this time I heard "St. Joseph was a carpenter" and thought it meant "St. Joseph was a full stack engineer" and it turns out to be more like "St. Joseph is OPEN for commissions and has a patreon and don't forget to hit those like and subscribe buttons."

I dunno, I'm far enough removed from agriculture that I'm fabulously blind to how *critically important* it used to be. I wonder if my grandfathers would have been like "well yes, obviously" to all this.

But it worked out that, if you controlled farmable land, in a year with a poor harvest you simply did your own carpentry that was good enough to the purpose, so not controlling land (and having to be known by your non-farming trade) always put you at the mercy of people who *had* good harvests.

There's a lot in there other, but in Dilexi Te 20, there's a mention of how Jesus (and St. Joseph), as carpenters, were of an inferior social class, which kind of took me aback because my mental model was that carpentry was uhhh a skilled and therefore valuable (or not contemptible) trade.
