genai slop has taken over the internet and people are already so sunk cost fallacy deep in their addiction to it but we need to keep resisting

its like everyone else refuses to listen to anyone other than grifters

In addition no human that learns from your work is a piece of software capable of producing high-detail artwork in seconds, accessible to anyone with an internet connection and owned by a tech company whose valuation is intimately tied to the propagation of its use.

Also, it DOES NOT LEARN LIKE A HUMAN. This is an established fact supported by neuroscientists like Henning Beck and AI developers like François Chollet.
Any proclamation to the contrary is marketing from vested interests. It is dissimilar biologically and technically.

GenAI is an averaging machine that's solely dependent on the work of millions of artists. The code is inert on its own. It should be clear that we're defining the value of this technology, and someone else is benefiting from it at our expense. We had no say in mitigating the adverse effects.

There’s no grand plan to improve humanity’s efficiency with AI. It pursued the lowest-hanging-fruit with complete disregard for the ethical concerns. The people carelessly building their tech exclusively on the exploitation of artist’s work probably don’t intend to actually help you.

Pursuit of utmost efficiency in the arts doesn’t benefit us in the same way that automation of other manual labor does. The entertainment industry can absolutely afford to support millions of working artists expressing and creating work they love, but instead prioritises maximum return on capital.

It’s removing our ability to pursue careers imbued with passion and expression. Money that would trickle down through a marketplace of millions of artists is being funnelled upwards to a collective few tech mongers and execs.

It’s part of a wealth transfer from creative labourers to the exec and managing class. Generating games/film/art at little cost for maximum return benefits one very specific group of people, and you’re almost certainly not among them.

Been seeing some pro-AI sentiment around. Some reminders:
GenAI’s final design intent is the total replacement of artists. The fact it can’t do that right now is a setback, not an ethical decision from its designers. The notion that genAI benefits us is a heavily marketed guess, not a guarantee.

There's a new setting in Settings: Privacy & Security.

Scroll aaaaaaaalll the way to the bottom and you'll see "Text and Image Generation."

TURN IT OFF.
