I love that we can return to such conversations, hope this platform can stay sane.
Happy to find a new vintage Schlenkerla in my local monopoly shop. Their Jahrgangsbiere are incredibly smooth. This one is smoke and marzipan. Nice while planning a Franconia trip in December.
Any snakes involved? Bonus if there are in Germany as well.
My source here is @bamberg.bsky.social un his book 55X Verführt Bamberg. This goes way back to the 30 Year War, when the Swedish troops occupied the best quarters available. That they reached this far south is incredible. The Swedish national coat of arms?
In this day and age we are happy to have decent politics in our beer feed.

And it’s not as if he has to do this. Every extra concert he plays guves undiluted joy to thousands. And some of them will not have seen him live before. 🎸
Their Bock on yet? Drei Kronen was one of the highligts of our trip last year. And the Drei Kronen taverns have a Scandinavian connection.

This Danish Bock is not particularly tasty, but extra points for the amber color.
Very happy to find Schlenkerla Kräusen on tap at Cafe Sara in Oslo. But the young men behind the bar sruggled to understand the Umlaut. The last line of the taps, please. #Schlenkerla #Franken

Today I learned how New Zealand is translated in Czech. You never know what might come in useful. And the beer was nice.
They can keep their hazy IPAs as long as there are beers like this around.
Thursday-Saturday next week is time for the highlight of the beer year in Norway - the Trondheim brewery festival. This year a good range of smoked beers, but there is something for everyone. I’ll be serving beers for Bygland and Rodebak. Everyone welcome!

Another day, another inexperienced but hopeful writer, announcing that they have “been offered a book deal” for £20,000. Turns out that the author is being expected to PAY THIS to the publisher, not the other way round. Folks, no publisher does this.

Wherever I travel, I try to seek out a craft brewery. Including in Kalamata, Greece. Nice soft lagers with noble hops. Well received in the local tourist industry. Bonus: Sea turtles in the harbour!
