I highly recommend this program to neuroscience trainees who are interested in computational methods, networking, or adding to their overall skill set. I spent 5 weeks with #BrainHack last summer and it was an incredible experience.
SOBP BrainHack is officially open for registration!

The hackathon will be held April 22-23 at Sick Kids Toronto. Beginners and experienced hackers welcome!

I lost my cousin and best friend to femicide in 2022. Her killer has yet to stand trial, and in just a few months, the 30-month limit for his criminal trial will expire.

Please vote for a candidate who will do better to address #IPV. #CallItFemicide

Thank you, @julieslalonde.bsky.social
Been in a lot of well meaning meetings & community discussions where people are saying "We should really mobilize people for the election. We need to get femicide on the ballot this election" but then nothing comes of it! And the election is less than a month away!

So, I whipped these together.

Cytoarchitecture, wiring and signal flow of the human default mode network

Combining 3D histology, 7T MRI, and connectomics to explore DMN structure-function associations

Led by Casey Paquola, @themindwanders.bsky.social & a terrific team of colleagues 🙏
The architecture of the human default mode network explored through cytoarchitecture, wiring and signal flow - Nature Neuroscience
The default mode network (DMN) is implicated in cognition and behavior. Here, the authors show that the DMN is cytoarchitecturally heterogeneous, it contains regions receptive to input from the sensory cortex and a core relatively insulated from environmental input, and it uniquely balances its output across sensory hierarchies.

Five years in the making: our meta-analysis of 10 fMRI datasets across Asia, Europe, and North America (N=2,433). We find creative ability emerges from dynamic switching between default and executive brain networks, with optimal creativity at a "sweet spot."

It’s official—2024 was by far the most expensive year on record for insured losses in Canada due extreme weather fuelled by climate change.

Losses totalled more than $8.5 billion last year, far above the previous record of $6.2 billion in 2016.
