the only thing I really took home from this whole nightmare is to always get imaging testing when possible, after years of bs I had one NP who had a hunch and ordered imaging that could have saved me a literal lifetime of medical grief if it had been done after my first cauda equina symptoms 😭

for what it’s worth— spina bifida occulta is underdiagnosed just based on how infrequently it presents with complications, it’s rarely an issue itself; congenital TCS via SBO is very uncommon and most docs I’ve met don’t know what it is, there’s <20 neuro docs in the country who will treat it
