We need your help! We need to hold Taxhel Reeves to account for destroying a protected species to please her developer friends! We need to send her a message that this isn't acceptable!

Completely agree and he’s just been given a platform by the BBC on Strictly.

Madame Alfred Carriere blooms in a heavy spring flush and then a nice steady bloom that continues over a long season, often being one of the first to bloom in spring and one of the last still blooming in fall. The very double flowers reach up to 4 inches in diameter and bear 30 petals.
One of my absolute favourites. The raw petals taste lovely too. Delicate with no bitterness.
First introduced to me by a wonderful lady I used to garden for so fond memories too.

Did you know, some Forget Me Not species change colour?

The ring at the centre of the flower starts off as yellow, but after a visit from an insect it will turn white. This indicates that the flower has been pollinated and has no more nectar 🐝

“Mark the fair blooming of the Hawthorn Tree,
Who, finely clothed in a robe of white,
Fills full the wanton eye with May’s delight.” - William Browne.
Known as ‘May’, the hawthorn is another birth flower of the month. Its blossoms symbolise hope & the bond of true love. #folklore

Brilliant news! At last, confirmation that the Govt *will* go ahead with the #NaturalHistoryGCSE 🎉 We have to get to know our fellow travellers on this planet again. Young people who know & love nature are far more likely to protect & restore it - as well as enjoying better physical & mental health
Department for Education confirms launch of natural history GCSE
Campaigners have been calling for the qualification for years but plan stalled despite a curriculum being drawn up

So much work went into the Batscape project in the Forest of Dean to map bat habitats & risk zones. The rhetoric is worrying & not necessary with sensible strategic planning. #forestersforest #bats #neighbourhooddevelopmentplans #ndp #forestofdean @mattbishopmp.bsky.social
🦇We are deeply concerned by the government’s latest rhetoric, which wrongly blames bats for slowing house building and infrastructure projects.

Better planning needs real solutions, not blame games. BCT's thoughts on this here: www.bats.org.uk/news/2025/03...

🌿☕ Morning 👋 ☀️

Unusually, Dahlias are octoploids, having 8 sets of chromosomes, humans have 2

So they can come in all different shapes & sizes!

Native to Mexico💐 & were an Aztec food crop

Prior to the discovery of insulin diabetics used ‘Atlantic starch’ taken from dahlia tubers

An amazing 🌺💕
Busy morning here at Perry Pear holiday cottage. The flock of siskins are out in force and visuals on the Blue Tits checking out the nest boxes.
Lots of lovely activity. Spring is in the air.
Recommend the Merlin Bird App.

I’ve decided I’m going to take over Lancashire, own it, level it, get all its inhabitants to relocate to Wales, Cumbria or wherever (not Yorkshire!), re-name it God’s Own Country, plant millions of acres of rhubarb and build a Betty’s Tea Room on every street corner.
That’ll sort the buggers!! 👍 👀

I’m overwhelmed by the lovely comments I’ve seen after my appearance on Antisocial on @BBCRadio4 🥰 Thank you so much for the kind words! I wanted to provide the sources for all the points I made on the show since I’m a big fan of showing your evidence 🧵
We transplanted some of the garden snowdrops to under the hedge at the holiday cottage. Success! Up they begin to come.. chuffed. #PerryPearCottage #snowdrops #forestofdean

On a day when house building is in the news, we publish a new report - LOST NATURE.

In it, we asked if housing developers have been delivering their ecological commitments.

Answer: NO.
