One does wonder about the interview process downstream of the ‘summer surge’ in hiring for federal cop jobs…. What questions do they ask? How does a candidate prove their mettle, as it were?
Sometimes my LinkedIn feed features the POC version (at right), so there’s that whole issue….

BREAKING: President Obama comes out in favor of Prop 50 in California.

California, help protect democracy and return your ballots today!

What I hope will be received as a fairly ‘sporting’ attempt to take the Bsky shitposting ethos abroad, over at @nationalreview.bsky.social.
The effort will probably backfire. However, by the time that happens, I will probably have forgotten that I wrote this & so the backfiring won’t concern me.

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

Seeing stuff like this sometimes makes me wonder why I have ever even bothered to try hard to figure out the ‘nature of reality,’ & make my thoughts & behavior conform to it (to my own material & status detriment, I might add). #JustAnObservationNotAComplaint

If Mike Johnson is refusing to call the House back into session during the shutdown, then we’ll do the work right here the Bronx.

The New York Essential plan is being eliminated entirely next year due to the GOP healthcare cuts. People’s lives are at stake.

And that’s why we’re fighting back.

Police officers who publicly declare that they’ll quit if a mayoral candidate they dislike wins the election are (1) usually bluffing—sure buddy, toss away that paycheck and pension—and (2) exactly the sort of cops cities would be better off without, ones who don’t see themselves as public servants.
“If this is so, WHICH IT IS….” 🤡🫠

There's no "regular politics" anymore because you can no longer maintain the idea that we all agree on common goals but we only differ about the means of getting there or whatever. The guys in charge now are plainly amoral, sadistic nihilists. They delight in it! You can't civilly disagree with that

In order to dispute the plausibility this hypothesis, one must explain how Thiel's argument in his 2007 lecture (gwern.net/doc/politics...www.hoover.org/research/pet...), presented at a conference in honor of his mentor René Girard, in any way accords w/ his *earlier* founding of Palantir.
The problem is that this is a slippery slope. How rich is rich enough to avoid *eventually* being ground into nutritional paste for richer people's (e.g., #PeterThiel) pets

“Wouldn’t that be the irony of history, that the man publicly worrying about the Antichrist accidentally hastens his or her arrival?”
