They deliberately conflate understanding what is required & the ability to procure it. My main pushback has been to point out that it is impossible for county clerks & the state department to process the gigantic influx of requests for citizenship documents IN TIME, thereby disenfranchising voters.
the new Republican talking point is that it's insulting to complain about requiring women to show their birth certificate and passport in order to vote because they're smart enough to figure it out
