Academic research (partly because it can take so long to produce) tends to strive for something approaching ~timelessness.
Grateful to see Harvard Business Review seeing value in findings of field research with big-city firefighters from more than a couple of years ago.

in season-of-giving, notable finding of win-win potential of prosocial behavior;
connection to “mental health” is also helpful & sensible
One of the most reliable ways to improve our mental health is to help others.

After being randomly assigned to do just 3 acts of kindness a week, people felt significantly less depressed, anxious, and lonely.

Lifting others up elevates us too. Giving shows us that we matter.

Asked students in "Leadership and Management in Sports" yesterday if they've heard of Bluesky and at least 5 hands went up
@brianmills.bsky.social post below provided illustration for the #AEM3320 students of new, relevant, and accessible research-sharing on this channel
Fun article from Russell as always. The fuzzy (and non-rectangular) zone is something I’ve been a proponent of for years if the league wants to go the tech route.

Worth noting, too, that umpires are getting notably less fuzzy at the edges:

Women are under-represented at senior levels in #academia globally, & across all #science 🧪 disciplines, as shown by these "scissor-shaped curves" ✂️

So how can we ever achieve #gender #equality?

We discuss various strategies in this #Cell Commentary
