In this house we call that The November Challenge. Been a few years since we managed it but we are on course at the moment. Claire normally caves first but we are both feeling it at the moment. Bit of luck we are going away next Wed for 5 days- absolutely not cheating.

All time great record. Steve McQueen can kiss my arse! Not THE Steve McQueen, you understand. I wouldn't dream of telling him to do that. Never liked the name Prefab Sprout, though.

Yes because $9 in those days was about £5 now it's nearly £9. I found it was cheaper to buy new records from the US sometimes. Still, it was always better in our day wasn't it- if it wasn't 'better in your day' then you should be ashamed of yourself.

I gave up on the US years ago- don't buy or sell there. Then Brexit, then Discogs new rules for listing a few years back, then postage prices- Germany used to be cheap but no longer, then paying VAT from Europe, then, yes, we are all skint, then vinyl revival making records so expensive, then, then

This Pharoah Sanders live CD is a real stunner. There's a version of 'Ole' on here that gives me goosebumps.

I can hardly believe I took this photograph only 3 weeks ago. We sit under blankets of an evening now.

Pilgrimage alert. We are going at the end of October.

Now we can get music from anywhere we like at the touch of a button, then it was hard to find even a Serge Gainsbourg record over here- I used to get my mum to pick such things up if she took a ferry to France to buy cheap booze- something else which is no longer necessary! That world is so distant.

That is a shame. Here in the UK that LP seemed very exotic to me back in 1981. I was very taken with it- still am- and I wished they'd recorded more at the time. It was bad enough that Yvon Vromman checked out so young.

'The Magnificent Seven' has it all. 'The Shootist' is an outside bet for someone of that age.

Is that one of yours? Like everybody else we are very impressed with your footage of the weedy pond. I got big fat zeros on all my Blackbird counts. Last couple of days a pair have taken up residence and are around the feeders and water all the time. It's like they're mocking me.

Perhaps you should go into record sleeve design?
The cover of Sven Libaek's 'Nature Walkabout ' LP. Colourful birds perch in a leafless tree with a bright blue sky behind.

Any of these hard-bitten characters turn up in it?

Big house just up the road sold off some land a few years ago for house building. Smallish house built, but there was a tree that had to stay.

They only look shiny and beautiful for a couple of days. After that I pelt Noel Fielding with them.

£15 from the same seller in UK. Nothing is ever cheaper here so maybe it is something to do with tariffs

I put some fennel seeds in (get me) so I may have wangled an extra 30 seconds of life- I'll have to measure my urine output over the next month, every day at 5.30 in the morning to confirm that.

If I ever have a lot of money- talking about £100 here- I don't know what to do with it. It seems, simultaneously, not enough and too much. If I spend it all on this I can't get those but if I get those I'll never have the money for that again. It would probably be the same with £900,000.
