Thhheeennnn I made those beaded pins of Kyasurin and Katakuri. I pinned them in my car’s headliner. First time driving after putting them in my baby looks at them and says
“Mommy that’s you!” He stops talking for a minute and says “But where’s me?”

Because being a mom (especially to him!) is a core part of who I am. Soooo I started to sketch out a design for him and then felt realllllly weird making an OC representing a living person who isn’t me, it kinda felt invasive tbh.. I just let that file collect dust for some months now. *3*;;

When I made Kyasurin, who is a pretty obvious self-insert (every person I’ve shown her to irl instantly clocked that she is me lolol), she felt very incomplete to me. I felt really weird having a version of myself exist without my kid.

A reference sheet of my OC Sammie. There are multiple drawings of him in various poses. Him standing while holding a toy, eating a donut, reading a book, playing with blocks, holding his hands over his ears, hiding behind my OC Kyasurin’s legs, a small doodle of Kyasurin and Sammie hugging. There are small bits of info spread throughout the image. Samuel. Nickname: Sammie, Age: 6, Race: Skypiean. He has short blonde hair with Skypiean antenna. His eyes are green, he has fair skin, cleft chin and a small set of white wings. He avoids eye contact. Wears either slides or is barefoot. He is tepid and soft-spoken. He hates sudden loud sounds (but loves loud music!). He is a very shy little boy.

From abstract sketch to One Piece stamp.

“Heeeereeee’s Buggy!”

Image of my sketch process for this pink eraser stamp. I like to trace out the eraser size onto paper and then start sketching in the correct size to figure out what I will do. In the top left you can see my first sketch which is a bit abstract but there is an eye. The next sketch I liked the eye and sort of made a face. It was down like and the smile made me think of Buggy from One Piece. My next two sketches were me figuring out how to fit a profile of Buggy onto a small stamp. Having it zoomed in to just one eye, part of the smile and nose made me think of the Shining. You can also see how I sketched on the pink eraser with pencil before carving Picture of the final pink eraser stamp carving and the print it makes. I’m really happy with result and that you can tell it’s Buggy from such a zoomed in view of his profile.
