Spoke at “The Augmented Gaze” in Rotterdam yesterday on AI, XR & privacy for #NationalXRDay. But I don’t want to lecture about AI. I want real conversations, with room for nuance, doubt, and human stakes. These convos aren’t just for lecture halls or boardrooms — they belong over coffee, over wine.
Do I want to ignore it? Yes.
Can I ignore it? Absolutely not.
Will I think about it at 2am even though it’s none of my business and technically doesn’t affect anything?

You already know the answer.
*screams silently in contract lawyer*

"Independance"

I know, I know. I’m the sort of person who adjusts formatting in other people’s Google Docs and gets emotionally invested in the placement of apostrophes.

But this? Channel 5, this is violence.

In an augmented world, you might appear as a version of you shaped by someone else’s imagination, algorithm, or agenda… at RESKINNED ALIVE at @sxsw London today, I got to explore that tension as a lawyer who specialises in publicity and digital personhood. Love my job ⚡️
So happy to be here in #Cannes for the 78th Cannes Film Festival!

Almost everyone has an opinion on using AI in the movie industry 🤔 my job is to help people protect their rights and, if they *do* want to use the tech, to do so responsibly. Want my personal view? It’ll cost you a Campari Spritz
I’ll be speaking on this at #SXSWLondon: 🕶️ Reskinned Alive: How Will AI and XR Reimagine Human Identity?

📍Rich Mix, Shoreditch
📅 Thursday 5 June, 11:00

Join us. Let’s talk bodies, identity, avatars, and the right to define how we’re seen.

I made sure my Hugo was the only one in frame, but how many people do that? The LED indicating the camera is on is subtle, easy to miss in daylight.

When a camera doesn’t look like a camera, what does consent look like? And what happens when glasses like these don’t just record, but augment?

To this day my husband and I have never let Hugo watch videos on our phones. He thinks they're just boring things grown-ups use for some reason, and we’d like to keep it that way. So being able to record without pulling out a screen? Huge bonus.

But it also gave me pause.

From Hugo’s perspective, I was just kneeling down watching him - no phone in hand, just present.

Because yes, I have *those* glasses: the ones that record with a gentle tap on the rim.

A tiny light flashes, but there’s no visible camera. No screen, no shutter sound. Just me, smiling at him.

Over the bank holiday weekend, I took my almost-3-year-old to Greenwich Park. Like many parents, I couldn’t resist capturing a few moments of that wild toddler energy…

But this time, I didn’t reach for my phone. I just pressed a small button on my sunglasses.

Sigh. The reaction was not furious because reactions aren’t capable of feeling emotions. People feel emotions; a reaction can be described by its nature (“reaction of fury”), but not by an emotional state like furious.

Should be “The people were furious. The reaction was one of fury.”
Thrilled to be heading to the #Cannes Film Festival this year! I’ll be in town from May 15th to the 19th, soaking up the energy, connecting with brilliant people, and attending some standout events 🤩
I’m officially speaking at @SXSW.com London! Out of 3,000+ applications, the brilliant Rob Morgan's "Reskinned alive: how will AI and XR reimagine human identity?" was one of just 75 selected for inclusion in the official line-up... and he's asked me to join him on stage 🤩 #SXSWLondon
“[Altman is] hoping that Donald Trump's AI Action Plan, due out this July, will settle copyright debates by declaring AI training fair use”

That’s… not… that’s not how copyright law works…
Love Allison’s Stetson! 🤠

Cool! Will you be at German Haus at all? I’m speaking there tomorrow
All things film-related! I’m hoping to attend these two events today
Nice! I’m (film & media lawyer) here too — the program looks so amazing! If you have any tips about how early to arrive for sessions, let me know!
I’ll be there 👏

🤠 Beyond excited to be off to #SXSW next week to speak about AI! Join me at SPEAKEASY on Congress Ave, Saturday at 1pm where I'll be discussing EU and U.S. regs www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...
It’s so good — I saw it at Locarno. Very thought-provoking and poignant; I found it very moving as both an AI expert myself and a mother to a young son!
