Wanted to do something other than academics so I went to a trade school for high school! Learned the blue collar electrical trade. Decided to turn that experience around into shooting for an Elec. Eng. degree in college. It was a rough path, but in the end I wound up where I wanted to be: Nuclear!

Rolls engine is more to my taste. More efficient, runs cooler and more reliably. GE has to complicate their engine's control strategy to make up for the mechanical simplification so I don't fully see the point of it. I would rather have the 3rd intermediate spool.

I had great time too!
Had a killer time doing KBBQ and seeing Knower tonight with @jaredhead.bsky.social @kangamutt.bsky.social @keijimorita.bsky.social and @blakeac.bsky.social. I only knew a few of their songs going in, but enjoyed the whole thing and danced the whole time!

Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

Seeing aurorae at all is unbelievable when you consider that this is the light pollution directly south of Mt. Wilson Observatory: literally Los Angeles, plus even more reflection of that light from clouds tonight.
