I started work working for the local Labour controlled council when Thatcher was in and I quickly learned who the enemy was.

After the Iraq 'war', I voted Green.

I lent Labour my vote twice when Corbyn was leader.

Now with Starmer wrecking everything Labour stood for I'm voting Green for good.

I haven't tried MATE. Well, not quite true: I create a MATE boot USB to put on my ancient MacBook Air but it wouldn't recognise the wifi adapter. So far, Xubuntu has been the only Linux which has recognised it.

Not that I'm unhappy. XFCE runs really well on it considering it's 11 years old :)

The first time I installed Linux it was Red Hat Linux 6.0. This screenshot still stirs me. I loved it. We've come so far :)

I switched to Kubuntu Linux 15 months ago. I haven't looked back.

Try it out yourself. To an average user (internet browsing, social media, office and email etc) there's little difference.

It takes about 20 minutes to install Linux on an older machine. And it doesn't hurt to create a live disk and see if it suits you.

If you do go down this route, may I recommend Kubuntu - it is Ubuntu with a Windows-like feel.

Labour - Tories with an apologetic smile.
Lib Dems - Can not be trusted. I'm disabled and survived their 2010-15 cull.
Reform - Protest party, at best.
Greens - For the people and the planet.

I voted Green from Labour's illegal war up to Corbyn.
