Almost done grading. The end of the first semester of my post-doc fellowship. It went very well. Have an essay and micro-fiction forthcoming. I’m reading for the Meijer Visiting Writers Series in January. Some good things.

One thing I miss about winter in the south: when it’s snowing like this at midnight, you know you don’t have to set an alarm for in the morning because everything is cancelled. Not the case here.

In Memphis, a group was arrested this morning for harassing people in front of Planned Parenthood. Abortion is illegal in TN. WTF were they protesting, pap smears?

My book about the grief of losing my mother and sister in a car wreck as well as a blending of saints, mystics, and Francis Farmer, was a finalist at a contest that is my dream. Soooo close! Gives me hope.

FYI: Memphis is a majority Black city with 64k plus Hispanic residents, and is being occupied by federal and state forces.
Memphis, TN (my hometown) is occupied by the National Guard, ICE, HSI, state troopers, and other feds. The activists are in the streets recording and shouting. I see the posts and videos on facebooks from my friends. But I see nothing about it elsewhere.
