A level English language is extremely challenging, imo more so than Lit. I’ve an engineering degree but would struggle I suspect. I’ve a friend who teaches it, students choose it expecting an easy ride then get bitten on the arse.

I posted this under an article about yesterday’s Oxford Half Marathon, the road closure transformed the neighbourhood, literally overnight.

We stayed in a hotel on the course on Saturday night (Banbury Rd) Traffic was horrendous, couldn’t cross without using pedestrian crossings. Sunday morning was bliss, road closed, street full of people going to cafes and organising their signs. Maybe consider a regular closure?

@gwr.com trains between Oxford & Paddington were rammed yesterday. We caught (late) 1027. 9 coaches, 7 of which were full to bursting, remaining two? First class, being generous, they were at less than 25% of capacity. Why????? Ticket prices are insane and people should not have to sit on the floor

Last night we stayed in Oxford, UK. It’s a very bike-oriented city but still has car issues. Hotel was on main route north out of town. Last night, needed pedestrian crossing to get across. Today it was closed for city’s half marathon. Absolute bliss, full cafes, smiley people wandering freely

Interesting read. Protests against immigration, but "protects R kidz" by driving a stolen car at 90mph down the Great North Road, ramming other vehicles, driving on the wrong side of the road.
