If anything, I think MORE divergence from the original would've improved it as a whole play, because it would have given them more freedom to actually address e.g. the idea of a feminist community/revolution, or the issues of failure to fully accept refugees, than it seemed like they felt they had.

It's a very interesting production - sound (including music/song) is great, so is the dancing, and it raises a lot of exciting issues. But for me, it then pulled back and didn't fully commit to them at the end, which lessens their impact or effectiveness disappointingly.

Back to normal life again (sadly) - and while there will be some history & games this week (there is always Companion work at the moment!), first it's teaching prep, and thinking about class ideologies in Aeschylus' Agamemnon.

My friend Sascha is a professional musician and he's lost a viola bow on the way to Heathrow. Please signal boost to help him get it back.

Lost viola bow on the way from Honor Oak Station to Heathrow Terminal 2. The bow slid from its bow case somewhere along the way, possibly on the train. TFL contacted already.
It weighs 68.2 grams and has got a stamped DODD next to the frog. If any info on this, please pm me.

I have managed to attach an extra day in Leiden to my conferencing, which means I spend a day touristing abroad and eating out, which always feels like such a strange thing in the middle of term. But really nice.

What a fantastic couple of days at #TIPC4 - a wide range of great papers, fascinating ways of interacting with the past, and a great community. It was esp good to finally put some faces and physical presences to names and colleagues I've been working with for some time online! Brilliant all round.

I had to sign a similar disclaimer to examine a graduate thesis recently. I absolutely cannot imagine agreeing to such an examination and then thinking "I know, I'll give someone else's work to an LLM to examine instead! Totally fine! They're experts too!" But apparently people do... 😵
