My children’s state secondary also has a habit of very short deadlines for trips - ‘please pay the first £150 within a fortnight’ which I think it likely to be unaffordable for very many families.

The audacity of this young hedgehog - a nightly thief in the coop, stealing Hilary Hen’s food and tonight actually sitting in her corn dispenser. When I lifted him out he didn’t even bother curling into a ball and just huffily marched off into bushes (presumably to plot his next move)

A hedgehog has moved into the chicken coop, which has outraged the resident hen, Hilary. Next door’s cat has also taken to sitting next to Hilary where they look to be plotting some sort of crime, possibly against the dog. Or the hog. This might have to be a book.

When Starmer said no one can be denied Britishness because of their skin a long-buried pressure eased in me.
For years there's been a slow grind of prejudice dressed up as “legitimate concerns” amplified by politicians & media until it felt normal. It makes you feel smaller where you should belong.
