It's reintroduction time! I'm a multidisciplinary artist who makes art about memory, place, & craft. In 2022 I moved from Oakland, CA to small village in the Netherlands. To restart/recenter my career, I'm putting myself through a "conceptual apprenticeship" with the greats of Dutch & Flemish art.
This is who runs this account.

Folks, please don’t tell artists they shouldn’t be making or selling their art right now. For many, it’s how they pay the bills. Art is vital during times like this. ALL ART. Whether it’s a protest sign or a book cover or just a beautiful drawing. It’s part of the heart of humanity.

Forty years after the Challenger disaster, engineers who fought to stop the launch still grapple with the guilt of "what if." The tragedy remains a definitive lesson in the danger of prioritizing management goals over engineering truths and the fatal cost of silencing dissenting voices.
40 years after Challenger: Lingering guilt and lessons learned

I was a highstrung child who became an anxious and depressive adult. There are two things I don't allow my brain access to, for safety reasons -- guns and ChatGPT.

The Clothworkers’ were delighted to closely study this beautiful Qing Dynasty Yunjian or cloud collar during a recent research visit. Taking a closer look at the embroidered flowers, butterflies & peacock feathers, reveals fine couching stitches securing gold-wrapped silk & intricate knot stitches.

Second Amendment for me but not for thee.
Early DHS spin (via Fox News) is that the person shot repeatedly by Border Patrol officers in Minneapolis was armed -- note that open carrying firearms is legal with a permit and notably, they are not (yet at least) claiming that the person fired or even brandished a gun, just had one.

We won't have Nuremberg after this--I don't trust any American politician enough to believe they'll accept international tribunals--but I am hoping for an épuration légale the way France did after World War 2. And these milice bastards should keep that in mind.

I like making silly Google Maps. Today's silly Google Map is to all the novelty architecture examples in Northern California. So if you need to know where all the remaining orange-shaped fruit stands are -- I've got your back. www.patreon.com/posts/i-made...

A Dutch term for someone who acts tough but is actually a coward is held op sokken. It means “hero on socks.” The phrase originally referred to when, during a confrontation, a phoney tough guy would ditch their noisy clogs so they could retreat quietly in just their socks.
