Although as we know they have their own copies of the Kh-55 in the Neptune variants, it doesn't look like they have for the Kh-101 which would be the Tomahawk equivalent in terms of guidance and range. Seems like they're concentrating on the even longer-ranged FP-5 Flamingo.

They could do with a few updated versions of this in the US.

Thanks to the first volume of Michael Palin's diaries, I recently discovered the glory of one of the greatest travel pieces in British publishing history.

In early April 1977, The Guardian published a 7-page travel supplement on this "little-known" island nation...

Well, it’s an updated model of the Gepard concept, but there will never be enough of them realistically. Shells are programmed to explode in a shower of miniature tungsten rods where the target is predicted to be, ideal for constant speed and heading targets.

My friend Sascha is a professional musician and he's lost a viola bow on the way to Heathrow. Please signal boost to help him get it back.
Lost viola bow on the way from Honor Oak Station to Heathrow Terminal 2. The bow slid from its bow case somewhere along the way, possibly on the train. TFL contacted already.
It weighs 68.2 grams and has got a stamped DODD next to the frog. If any info on this, please pm me.

5x faster sounds great, unless it's a brick wall you're heading towards.

The other day a student asked me about the prevalence of insider trading in prediction markets. I now have an answer.

NEW: Since October 2023, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit has released dozens of 3D animations illustrating alleged Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iranian sites

The style is now unmistakable: satellite zoom-ins, black & white wireframes, and red-textured houses - a new visual language of war

Sure hope so ! The French have had a similar scheme for many years.

It used to be an unlimited amount, but it was reduced to €250,000 in 2006, and then to €40,000 in 2010 when we went bust and were bailed out by the IMF. Scheme was introduced in 1969. The vast majority of people who claim it make less than €10,000 p.a. from their art iirc.

It'll still be random selection though, right ? The devil really is in the details.

This should be the end of the Ryder Cup really, it’s been leading up to something like this since Brookline in 1999. No more.

Some things never change!

4,000 year-old ancient Egyptian writing board with a student’s many spelling mistakes corrected in red ink by the teacher! 😂

Met museum photo of an ancient Egyptian rectangular wooden white-washed writing board with an exercise written in black hieratic script. It was written by a student named Iny-su whose spelling mistakes are corrected in red ink by the teacher. Hieratic script is an ancient Egyptian cursive version of hieroglyphics. The board measures 19 cm long x 43 cm wide and has a horizontal crack half way down the left-hand side. The wooden board was painted with white gesso, which now appears cream-coloured. This allowed boards to be whitewashed for use over and again.

The exercise is a practice in formal letter writing. The student Iny-su addresses the letter (presumably jokingly) to his brother Peh-ny-su, treating him like a wealthy authority figure. Wood, gesso, paint pigment. Middle Kingdom, Dynasty 12, c. 1981–1802 BC.
