The John Lewis Christmas advert obviously not intended for this autistic person. All I focus on is the fact if our big kids were going to buy vinyl record for Christmas they certainly wouldn't buy at John Lewis indeed I am advised it isn't sold there.

Still thinking about the huge list of stigmatising labels that are often applied to autistic children & YP that @kieranrose.bsky.social shared this morning at the Nurturing ND conf. Now @jodieclarke.bsky.social talking about the huge shame carried by autistic kids. Is it any wonder?

Jade Farrington and I have published a new piece exploring #Autisticmasking and what 'unmasking' safely actually involves.

It brings together research, context and practical reflections often missing from mainstream discussions.

🚨 One of the biggest myths is that people living with mental illness do not want to work.

We’re determined to support both employers and employees to overcome the barriers to employment.

Because we believe that everyone living with mental illness should have the chance to thrive at work.

This review needs to lead to change that people can feel: a future where everyone can get the care they need, when they need it.

We need:
• A funded strategy for mental health
• Action to cut waiting lists
• Young Futures Hubs in every local area

Mental health makes up 20% of all ill health – but only receives 9% of NHS spending. And that share is falling. Without stronger protections, mental health will keep slipping behind other areas of care. 4/6

The mental health system is under immense strain. Something has to change.

This review is a chance to understand what’s driving the increase in mental health problems. This must not be used as a way to justify who deserves support and who doesn’t. 1/2
