Imagine you're showing up at 8 am for an overextended nightshift because the colleagues are sick, but everyone forgot to tell you that some are coming back today and you had to start later after all. So I'm here for basically.... no reason at all, except for being a pointless extra (being tired).

Singing the word "artblocking" in iggypopvoice to the melody of "Nightclubbing" while the canvas remains perpetually empty.

Yeah, it has a lot of genuine pluses. I guess one of the reasons why it never totally clicked with me is that I never fully got what it's going for in style and theme. Like, what actually IS the deal with the dogs, and how do they fit into all that Orwell stuff later on? Always found that confusing.

Nevertheless, it's one of his more overlooked albums, I figure. Probably because it's somewhat brief and doesn't have a well-known hit besides "Rebel Rebel", and even that one is a bit of a B-tier among Bowie classics. I'd say it's a B-tier album overall, but a respectable B-tier.

"Diamond Dogs" (1974) - There's a bit of a Ziggy Stardust hangover going on, but it somehow *feels* like the first proper Bowie album, not least because this is where the artsy weirdness is creeping in. Also, he worked on his vocals, so his singing is more versatile now.

Moving on to box #2 now, and this one is where I started to collect the series back then. Doofus me missed out on the first one when it came out, so I was too late to get hold of the LP version, which is now one of my white whales. But anyway, it's all LPs from here on out.

Me neither, for I'm a CSP user, but GIMP didn't exactly rock my boat, from what I remember.

Joah. No strip again today. In order to get one done, half of my colleagues shouldn't have caught Covid so that my shifts wouldn't turn into insanely long slogs while I have zero to no backlog to fall on. But unfortunately, it wasn't to be.

I'd probably do that too, but I still have PTSD from when I tried Linux for about 6 months or so several years ago. I wasn't impressed by the Photoshop/Winamp/etc alternatives; it was such a pain in the ass to get literally anything running, and the help forums were full of pompous jerks. Hrff.

"Re:Call 1" - The apocrypha of that set's era. Most tracks are radio edits and mono mixes (They were still a thing by then??), so there are a lot of "Hear it once"-type of things. But it also includes "Velvet Goldmine", Bowie's best b-side ever. It boggles the mind why that wasn't a proper single.

Gosh, this month is shaping up to be even more expensive than the last one.

That moment when you're ready to watch some music televison to fall asleep to, but you're catching exactly the hour when they're starting the block of anime with terrible dubs.

Oh, I would have been all over it too! But then again, it probably never was going to be. An album that had all its (wonderful) weirdness frontloaded was never going to sell a lot, especially with all the single choices being odd.

I'm not sure if it's my #1 overall, but it's up there somewhere. I remember how I, back then, kept waiting for the second album in that series, but by the time "Hours" came along, I finally had to accept that it would never come. And that made me a saddragon, sniff.
