Save up to $100 bucks in 1986 dollars. My word, how much were parents spending on their kids?!

The IBM PCjr gets a lot of criticism thrown its way. Some justified, some not. But I like revisiting these old computer ads because they are, for me, associated with some good memories.

Atari Crystal Castles. Wonderful game, nice looking arcade cabinet.

I wonder if any Travelodge looks like this anymore? #vacation #nostalgia

TWA business class could accommodate big people like Wilt Chamberlain.

That is some desk setup. Is that a desk or a table? I dunno but this IBM 5150? has hard drives. #vintagecomputing

Commodore made wrist watches. Yeah, computers, typewriters, watches.

This is a multi-page ad for Microsoft software on Apple Macintosh computers. #retro #80s

Pert shampoo and aerobics are two ingredients that can produce a quintessential 80s commercial.

Before I was online with Prodigy (IBM PS/1) or using the internet, I was constantly looking at encyclopedias we had in our home - Brittanica and New Book of Knowledge. Both from the 1970s but I was reading them throughout the 80s.

I wonder how popular Cabbage Patch Kids cereal was at the time. I'm pretty certain, without looking it up, that they're no longer produced.

I wonder how much distortion there would be on that screen from having the projector so close and low (angled projection). I see the screen is tilted to deal with some of it.

Right, they are currently pricing at $650. I don't see how they're going to do another.

If something was viral in the 1980s, it was this Maxell commercial. It's forever stored in my memory.

Microsoft, unlike Sega, doesn't have operating systems on billions of computers. One last thing, pricing the Xbox consoles that high makes me think they're pushing users to the PC, or even another rival console.

Not buying the idea that Microsoft is still invested on Xbox hardware based on a renewed partnership with AMD. They have invested a lot of time and money into its cloud and PC gaming business, leading me to believe when it comes to video games, they will go the route of Sega, but slight difference.

Whiz Kids premiered 42 years ago today. It was an adventure/detective series that only ran for 18 episodes starting in 1983, but made an impression on a lot of us lucky enough to catch it at the time.

This isn't just a promo photo for the Coleco ADAM Computer, but how I and others had to setup their computers. The memory console was hollow so that you can add stuff like the 300 baud modem. But I now have a shelf for the TV so it's more like a modern setup.

I find this Atari computer ad amusing because of what my friends were like when we were kids. I was always looking for an excuse to be around or on a computer & while I did spend lots of time outside, the only way my friends would be tempted to play inside was not with a computer, but Nintendo.
