Taking a break from #5amwritersclub today.

Yesterday my little debut, Ibis, was shortlisted for the Center for Fiction's First Novel Prize.

Still in my feels & can't get much work done. Tomorrow, I promise! 🥺

Get some words in for me?

Ok, so I'm told that Azalea Park in Roswell may fit the bill. There's a designated picnic area but also has trails, river/creek, and a canoe launch. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! I'm still floating! 😊

Hi, Jennjifer. Thanks for clarifying! Let me have a think/reach out to a couple of folks?

Love the vibe of this story already--I feel like I want to get out of Atlanta myself sometimes! 😂

Hope you're well!

Hey, Jennifer, thanks for your kind words! When you say 'outside' of Atlanta, could you be a bit more specific? Do you mean the metro space? Atlanta uses terms like 'inside the perimeter' and 'outside the perimeter' to define more urban life vs suburbs/exurbs.

One last book tour trip to Brooklyn last weekend for #BKBF meant a hotel-based #5amwritersclub.

Cramped space, fewer words, but I woke &write. Great panel w/ Booker longlisted Claire Adam too! Hey! Ho! Let's go!

Used to live in South Bend, and I knew his history of treatment of Black folks there ever since the phony tried to brand himself as the kind, avuncular 'Mayor Pete.'

He wrote The Changeling at a Dunkin' Donuts near the George Washington Bridge where he would use details from other customers for his characters.😅

1.5 hours into today's #5amwriters club it's just me and my tools trying to make sense of September and the rapidly disappearing year. 😥

Did I commit cookie-cide while I prepared a lesson plan for class? Yes. Yes I did.

I love me a Muji pen. One of my faves to write with. Give me a .50 mm &some scratch paper, &phew, I'm good for the day.

Saw that Muji released these new compact 0.50 mm &thought yay! They're ok?

Playtime is over! Back to writing!

Yeah, reading other people's creative work, esp. students', really drains the creative energy. The good news is that I don't have any 2nd novel ideas anyway! 😅

How's your writing going?

Yep! Oglethorpe U. Small liberal arts college.

Ha! You're living the dream! Me? I'm getting ready to head back into the classroom and feeling daily dread.
