Excited to announce that @merkanaut.bsky.social @justinallec807.bsky.social and I have received funding for our graphic novel about Silver Islet from the Ontario Arts Council. We are grateful for the opportunity and support to Northern Artists. Thanks as well to local MPP @lisevaugeois.bsky.social

Oh my gosh that sounds amazing. I've never had the chance to see her...rattled the neighbors windows plenty of times, though. That voice could save your life.

I have questions about how it's organized n shit and like do they get a preview/test run? I guess this is edited down, too. Because I'd just be busy reading titles for an hour or so and going "oh this one too".

Great FF, saw it a few months back and still thinking about it.

This one in particular but the whole album is great stories, some of her best writing ever. "The wolves that eddy out of the corner of his eye" with that cello digging deep, Case's voice is a goddamn miracle.

No problem, always like reading your takes.

The first entry in what is going to be a series following the exploits of a vampire, across time and the United States, is now live on my Patreon. Nothing good comes of Sister Midnight Calling. Free to all, for now. 👻

Absolutely! Todd's contributions in particular have always been more HC based - "fuck the border" from Tomorrow's Ashes is an all-timer.
Also a good ex of what was happening beyond the DC scene.

It's literally this for me, minus the straight-edge stuff.
Propagandhi's Less Talk More Rock cd, with an anarchist A in the middle, with the words 'pro feminist, animal-friendly, anti-fascist, gay-positive' on it.

Oh damn, I am absolutely doing some kinda tuff-guy Victory Records face right now.
But I'd say for me...

Earth Crisis's "Firestorm"
Propagandhi's Less Talk, More Rock
Bikini Kill's Pussywhipped

She does a wonderful job on that article. A true ray of sunshine.

I wasn't too into the Strangers re-thingy but Bertino's Dark and the Wicked is a firm fav, been waiting for this one!

The tendency for the kills to hit like accidents really put me in mind of Tucker & Dale - that one girl falling into bear trap esp. And it's nice to have a period slasher where everyone's default isn't just 'asshole', the friendship arcs of the present-day cast was wonderful.

Yeah, this one sucks. Had me wondering not just if Hooper hadn't directed Poltergeist, but if he had directed anything at all it was so botched.

Haven't read Old Wells but Mub has some cracking dialogue and you could do a robot voice!

With you on this one (same problem as The Damned, kinda, though that one made it much further) but that vista-sized scene of the carnage and 'scarecrowing' made the first half worth it, anyway.

Farmiga in that first season of AHS was the main draw here for me. Still need to see those Nun movies because of her.

Jordan Olds is like one of my fav metal folks of all time thanks to his Two Minutes to Late Night (srsly - Chelsea Wolfe et al. covering Ozzy's Crazy Train to a JC synth overlay, jeebus) so I love that his latest project is getting some real love. Whole album rules.

Oct list ✔️1960s ✔️vampire ✔️Hammer ✔️Cushing
"Brides of Mienster" doesn't have the same ring, but damn was this fun! Cushing in badass mode - that cauterizing scene, whoo! - Yvonne Monleaur's Marianne being just lovely + tough herself, the Baron being a fine vamp to square against, and a great finale.
Brides of Dracula film, green-tinted picture of a vampire with several women around him.
justinallec807.bsky.social
Like I could see all of this coming from a mile out but they did a damn fine job of pairing up Farmiga and Akerman - that last conversation btw them to that song wasn't really fair!
justinallec807.bsky.social
I've had soft spot for Farmiga since I saw her in that first American Horror Story, so it was nice to see her again.

Oct list ✔️slasher ✔️meta ✔️2010s
Not going to claim that this slasher is anything but lighthearted, silly, and typical, but it's the daughter/mother story btw Farmiga and Akerman that hits true - how many times can your parent break your heart? Turns out, over and over, esp as a literal sacrifice.
The Final Girls film. Sepia toned image of a bunch of teens and a masked killer waving a machete.
