He was a stellar father figure to my brothers and me — always putting my mom and us first. We lost him yesterday, and while we’re preparing for his final rest, I’m still out here defending democracy. I’m tired, but steadfast. Grateful for my community and the strength that comes from showing up.

I’ve been in a weird time warp these last four days. My stepdad was in the hospital, and even though he had a DNR and DNI, those wishes weren’t respected because the nursing home never forwarded his directives. He deserved dignity and comfort — it was rough at first, but things finally got on track.

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.
