He/Him | Mediocre programmer, larval artist. I write about video games in my spare time. :3
So many cool little games on my wishlist releasing and going on sale and I can't justify buying any of them yet because I've got an absolute dragon's hoard of other cool little games I own but have not yet finished.

Infinite games :), finite time :(.

Expounding on this thread a bit now that I've had some time to sit with it. I think ROM hacking is, effectively, the digital equivalent of the oral tradition. For years humans passed stories around, shared them, changed them, and many of those stories made it to today because of this.
And I'll never quite understand it myself. My *dream* is to one day create something impactful enough that people still want to mess with it long after I'm in the ground. Nintendo has that dozens of times over and they despise it.

Nintendo smacking down Mario Builder 64 with a DMCA is hardly surprising at this point, but it sure is infuriating nonetheless.

The hack still exists elsewhere (for now), but its RHDC page is shuttered.

Laptop has been driving me mad for ages, what with its defective mouse buttons. Luckily, however, I've stumbled upon a touchpad gesture that replicates click and dragging (the main one that never works): single tap, then tap and hold.

Think KDE is responsible for this, so shoutouts to that.

Today's fun little thing, managed to collect 16 of these little crashed process fellas at once. Seems Plasma-Discover has been having a rough time on my computer lately.

Everything *seems* to be functioning, bar the background crashes, so I just get a little chuckle out of seeing this many fellas.

Finally getting around to documenting this:
Spent ages trying to get the achievement for completing Frozen Hillside in under 1:35 (2 laps because I'm stubborn).

Found a kindred spirit (linked in this post) who managed the task by turning on Retire mode and tried to replicate their strategy.

Been putting off sleep by scrolling through old emails in KMail and it lead me to the discovery that this account is already a full year old.

The corollary to this is that it took me ~294 days to make my first post on this site. Shoutouts to that one Nintendo Direct for spurring me on I suppose.

Tip for any Air Rider completionists: if a checklist item is marked as done during a race you *can* exit the race and still get credit for it.

Pleased to report that Air Riders has been everything I could have wanted in an Air Ride sequel. It's the most *Yippee* I have felt with a Switch 2 title so far.

I'd give more details but know that I'm awake again I want to go play more.

Quick n' messy edit to show myself getting pummeled in the streets of Skyah. :D (Absolutely earned this with my behaviour this match).

Played as much Air Riders as I reasonably could at this hour and really enjoyed it. It's basically just Air Ride but more, which is exactly what I've wanted for the past my entire life.

Looking forward to full release so that I can play it split screen instead of solo.

Just finished all of the lessons in the Air Riders demo, and I've decided I will be staying up unreasonably late to experience the online when it goes live.

The release of more Animal Crossing content does feel like an ominous portent, but at least the new update looks good.

Excellent news, my computer has never been more serious.
Either way, time to hit send and see if my computer does a funky or not.

Turns out my upgrade to Fedora 43 was being held up by wine-dxvk. Was able to remove it without hassle (famous last words) so I have no idea *why* it was chillin' on my system.

Shoving my Minecraft server into a container has easily been a top-ten time save for myself. Granted, took a minute to set up, but now it's so much less fiddling whenever my friends change their minds about what modpack they want to play.

Really need to invest in a UPS at some point. Sucks to wake up to a 90:10 on whether my server is on or off. ( I rolled the 10 today ).

Unnecessary minor inconvenience to start the day *and* bad for the hardware.

Bold choice for the second Air Riders Direct to end on a :3. Easily the title I'm most excited for out of all the Switch 2 launches and announcements thus far.

Software pet peeve of mine is when a program grabs focus multiple times when starting up. Go to tweak my audio settings when starting up my laptop and Discord keeps deciding it must be the center of my attention.

Started up Steep to see if the graphics issues I was having last time had been resolved (they have) and I've walked away from that play session with a renewed desire for a new 1080 game. Like another Ape Escape game, I don't see it happening anytime soon, but a goober can dream.

Most realistic mechanic in VotV is waking up from a nightmare with half your sleep taken away. Got up today really feeling like S: 58.2.

Got around to doing some writing again to talk about why I think Wanderstop is a cool game. Wanted to post something positive to contrast my first article, and my following this game's development is very much responsible for me ending up on this site.
