Socialist. I enjoy a good discussion and hate inequality and unfairness. Passionate about the NHS and about stripping privatisation out of it.

"Historical evidence should warn us against the idea that strong men get things done, which is almost always wrong. The concentration of power promotes loyalty at the expense of wisdom, flattery at the expense of objective advice, self-interest at the expense of public interest."

Trump bailed out Argentina, who then undercut US farmers by selling their soybeans to China, who used be our biggest customer for soybeans before Trump drove them away with his tariffs.

This is Trump 3D chess in action.

Arrogance, Ignorance and Idiocy.

Absolutely no surprises there.

Seriously, please can we have some examples of the radical ie far right being articulate?

Farage and co rely on sound bites and fear-mongering. On the very rare occasions when Farage is challenged, he walks away.

The anti-Palestinian bias is in plain sight.
Where are the headlines about Palestinian families unable to bury their dead, because their loved ones are under acres of rubble?

“When it comes to the almost 2,000 Palestinians who were released by Israel as part of the deal… there has been silence from much of our mainstream media.”

I’d love to go forward in time to see what historians make of this President who rants and raves in public.

Oh my. A President who only ever acts out of self interest, who has made USA a fascist state, who uses troops against peaceful Americans, who has funded genocide in Gaza since he took office. That President deserves the Peace Prize? Pull the other one.

I struggle with giving any credit to Trump though. He acted through self interest after Israel bombed Qatar, threatening his new lucrative friendship.
Israel depends heavily on USA support so yes, POTUS is the one who has all the leverage. Trump could have stopped this much earlier.

It is baffling, frustrating and scary how reluctant Starmer is to strengthen our democracy against the rising tide of fascism.

Bring in PR.

Ban all political donations and have state funding of political parties.

Stop billionaires controlling MSM.

Attack Farage at every opportunity.

…You would ban foreign influence on elections. And you would not allow [Paul] Marshall to run a whole lot of outlets [UnHerd, the Spectator, GB News] in pursuit of an obvious and transparent political agenda.”

The late Conor Gearty on how to fortify democracy:

“Change the voting system. Don’t have a stupid internal independent commission. Don’t have some stupid Royal Commission. Don’t consult. Just have a Single Transferable Vote PR Act. Push it through…..

This - and Farage working with wealthy US anti-abortion groups on 'freedom of [our] speech' campaigns (per Byline Times and NY Times) - show significant US financial interference in UK politics.

If you want to end up like the US, first thing to do is let money dominate democracy.
