Today in “finding joy in small things”: I went to @journalsketchclub.bsky.social for the first time. It’s years since I’ve done any drawing, and that was mostly of buildings, so I decided to try my hand at botanical drawing. A lot more practice required, I think.

Pencil sketch of a kohekohe flower, with tubular corona and weird squiggly sepals, and the handwritten caption “Didymocheton spectabilis”.

For comparison, the photo I based the drawing on. The sepals are green and the corona is creamy white.
