Hey! Check out my game Delver! It's a run based first person procedural dungeon crawler.

Custom game engine tech by @cuddigan.bsky.social and art by me.

Giving a talk at UC Berkeley tonight.

Time to scare the children away from game development yet again 👨‍🎓

Yup! We use libGDX so we are using RoboVM for iOS stuff.

And yes, I'm working on both Android and iOS.

Lately I've been knocking the dust off of Delver Engine and working towards getting mobile builds going. So far it hasn't been _too_ bad, just normal levels of reviving a legacy code base. 😅

Did you know I wrote a set of command line tools for Quake? Did you know they are totally free and open source?

Once in a while someone will throw a few bucks my way for these tools and every time it makes my day. 😃

What I find beautiful about old technology are the places where it begins to come apart at the seams. Wobbly triangles on the PlayStation, tracking lines on a VCR.

That sweet spot where ambition and constraint begin to have friction.

Not gonna lie, as someone who grew up in the snes/mega drive era every time we develop a new custom engine tool my first tought after figuring out how to control what it's meant too do, is 'good. Now let's see if we can abuse it in memorable ways'

I don’t know, you could chuck up a small whisk in that baby and really scramble some eggs.

Is this position on-site or remote? I happen to be a senior technical artist looking for my next thing.

I too am jealous of people who feel “energized” or “good” when they wake up.

Oooh. Is that a midi controller with custom key caps? Or what am I spying?

You ever get totally decimated by your child completely by accident?

“Hey Dad. Do you remember when you were a kid? You know, back in the 1900s?”

If you’re an indie dev mutual of mine and I haven’t followed you back it’s not because you aren’t amazing. It’s because I’m _very_ bad at social media.

If you ask me to fix up vibe coded software, my rate just doubled.

The AI boom has created a new type of work: fixing botched AI. Designers are being hired to remake wonky AI art. Writers are asked to make ChatGPT’s writing sound more human. Even software developers are tasked with fixing buggy vibe coding.

Humans are being hired to make AI slop look less sloppy

Yesterday, along with half of the entire company at Rec Room, I was laid off. While having a stable job in the games industry for seven year is rare, it is also bittersweet.

I think the thing that I will miss most is working with so many talented artists and helping them shine.

The first home computer I remember was my Dad’s Kaypro II. I was way too young to use it myself, but I fondly remember the green glow of the screen.
