Madrid's Wednesday complete schedule:
Birthday boy Alexander Zverev (28th) beats Ben Shelton 6-2, 6-4 to win Munich for the 3rd time.

One of his best performances of the year.

His 24th career title, first of the year.

Puts pressure on Carlos Alcaraz, who has to win Barcelona to stay on world #2.
Jelena Ostapenko defeats Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-4, 6-4 to reach her 2nd singles final of the year in Stuttgart.

That's just her second *career* final on clay, first since winning... Roland Garros (!) in 2017. Incredible.
24yo Francisca Jorge and 21yo Matilde Jorge defend their Oeiras WTA 125 title.

They defeated Anastasia Detiuc and Patricia Maria Tig in the final 6-1, 6-2.

That's their 21st title together.

Incredible!
26yo Dalma Galfi wins the biggest title of her career at the Oeiras 125.

Defeats Katie Volynets in the final 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 -- gets closer to the top 100 again.

Galfi is playing another tournament in Oeiras (ITF 100k) next week. Volynets off to Madrid WTA 1000.

Feat of Clay

Carlos Alcaraz isn't QUITE in a groove just yet.

But, with his level of talent, he doesn't need to be to get these wins.

Last week's champion in Monte-Carlo overcomes some wobbles in the 2nd set to defeat American qualifier Ethan Quinn, 6-2, 7-6⁶.

Carlos now faces Laslo Djere.
😆
Ha!

So, apparently, while getting her ass whooped by Lois Boisson today, Harriet Dart was heard telling the chair umpire to tell the Frenchwoman to put on deodorant.

Lois Boisson posted this on Instagram. 😭

(Dart seems to get in a lot of these little tiffs... notably with her BJK Cup teammates.)

Carlos Alcaraz is back into the ATP Top 2 for the first time since October.

He got pretty much nothing to defend till Roland Garros so it now looks almost 99% sure that Sinner and Alcaraz will be the top 2 seeds in Paris.
Carlos Alcaraz won the two tournaments in 2025 where he traveled with Samuel López.
Alcaraz.

"It's been a tough month for me. On and off the court. I don't wanna say in public, but I was struggling stepping on the court. It's been difficult to find a way to not think about everything".

Wednesday schedule in Monte-Carlo:
Which of the Big 3 do you think you’re most similar to? Or which one would you like to be like?

Alcaraz: I’m not a big fan of comparisons. Of course, it’s an honor to be compared to the three greatest of all time, but I’m Carlos Alcaraz, and I’m just trying to follow my own path — nothing more.
"I’ve always said I’d like to be the greatest in history and have a seat at the Big Three’s table, but that’s a big statement — not an obsession. And I always say I’d love to be remembered as an inspiration, someone who had fun doing what he loved, with a smile and making people enjoy it too."
Alcaraz.

"I’m not obsessed with being the best in the world. I was number one a few years ago, and I was happy. Now I’m number three, and I’m just as happy. I’m enjoying the journey, the sport, and life."
Alcaraz, a multimillionaire, still lives with his parents. And he doesn't want to change that.

"I don’t have much free time. I’m really happy when I get to go back to my parents' home after a long tour or a stretch of tournaments."
