This is getting so vile. The human cost of this will be massive. And in addition, it'll destroy the current social model. But that's probably the plan anyway.

Of course, it needs to go beyond talk. The reset is only tinkering around the edges. What's needed won't be sorted out in the Government's first term. So we will muddle for many years, which is depressing.

It is callous and inhuman. And worryingly, there is little pushback on this, allowing more poison into an already toxic debate.

Yes, I think they should have. It probably would have got them a couple more percentage points of support. But more importantly, it would have allowed them to offer a clear alternative to most of the other parties. A different vision/path about Europe is desperately needed.

With the Government support at around 20% now, I doubt that they would lose any more support if they changed tack on Europe. They will have plenty of data to support a change. But they need to present it effectively.
