This is a strange yet comforting Halloween fact.
Among the greatest tragedies of our time is Lovecraft not living long enough to see Gojira.
So in universe, how exactly does Godzilla insurance work? Does it not exist at all and the plan is to build for destruction, or are the premiums just ridiculous?

Excellent turnout for our Life After Cars live event with @yimbyaction.bsky.social in San Francisco tonight! So great to meet so many awesome people.
If they don't care that AI filmmaking is inhuman and destructive to the environment, and our very souls they might care that it sucks? That every experiment I've seen with AI filmmaking has been awful? It cannot edit for space or consistency. There have been fun experiments but no real wins.
This article is in poor taste. It's no surprise that an independent fan film isn't up to studio levels of quality (though some manage that achievement). Why make fun of them?
The crossover between people interested in indie dramas and people who can still tolerate the Rock in anything...may not exist at all?
Hey, I was quoted talking about Shadowrun! (complaining, sorry, not that you would be surprised)
Shadowrun is a unique phenomenon in the world of games. It's not the biggest game, but almost everyone’s heard of it — though what they’ve heard might not be complimentary. What's the story there? Why does it have the reputation it does?
Why do people love to hate Shadowrun?
A long-form exploration of corporations, cyberpunk, and elves.

This, along with the Rocketeer, the Phantom, and the Shadow, was a part of a brief revival of pulp nostalgia that were kind of ignored at the time but hold up incredibly after the fact. Since then, they're focused aesthetics and tone make them so worth revisiting.

Writer/Director Alexandre Franchi’s indie thriller ‘The Wild Hunt’ starring Mark Antony Krupa, Ricky Mabe, and Kaniehtiio Horn made its debut in Sweden at the Lund Fantastic Film Festival this week in 2010. 💔 ⚔️ 💀 #OTD
One of the best RPG movies ever made, beyond being a great film in its own right. I keep hoping, maybe fruitlessly, that this will receive the reappraisal it deserves.

Truly amazing to get a literal sack full of fifty grand in cash from the FBI and then nothing else happens
Please, I'm begging you, institute the Bulterian Jihad. A Carrington event. Anything to stop this cruel, ghoulish hell from getting any worse.
At 4p ET/1p PT, I’ll have a one of a kind interview with Joaquin Oliver. He died in the Parkland school shooting. But his parents have created an AI version of their son for a powerful message on gun violence. Plus TX Rep. @jamestalarico.bsky.social - see you soon on Substack and later on YouTube.

My hottest take about getting laid-as-politicsis it's downstream from housing policy. Nobody wants to have sex where they live with their parents, or have 1k roommates. We must increase the supply of cheap little apartments where people can bang 🙏

the high point of my being denounced as a neoliberal shill on tiktok is when i insisted that gentrification is downstream of housing supply constraints, and isn’t a quality inherently possessed by people you don’t like
maybe I’ll get pilloried for like “not getting the joke” or whatever, but this is absolutely how, like, a comfortable percentage of Cool People think the dynamics of housing costs work and it fucking sucks

MOTHER OF FLIES has won the jury award at the Fantasia International Film Festival. Well deserved - this is a major return to form for indie horror powerhouse The Adams Family, and might just be their greatest film to date.
Mother of Flies – Fantasia review
A mournful, mossy spell of grief and devotion in the Adams Family’s return-to-form witchy cancer drama. ★★★★ Great news out of Fantasia for fans of indie horror powerhouse the Adams Family: their n…

Indie filmmakers, I am begging you: make an official web page or linktree for your movie. Some way to follow youw. Do you have any idea how many times I've tried to reach out to write an article on someone's movie only to find NO CONTACT INFORMATION available anywhere? Broadcast your talent.
We see this often with Disney. An indie director is given a massive budget. They may have problems handling that scope, but they definitely have problems pushing back against a C-Suite as powerful and disconnected as those at Disney. Then someone with vision and talent delivers utter mediocrity.

If you dig Art house horror, I played a bounty hunter Hank Ray in Zombie With a Shotgun.
Put it on your watch list my friends.

"I don’t care how much you love working people. They can’t afford a house because all the rules in your state make it prohibitive to build. And zoning prevents multifamily structures because of NIMBY. I don’t want to know your ideology, because you can’t build anything. It does not matter."
They definitely think it's a type of candy.
