With the full understanding that Stoppard’s most profound work was in his plays, I’d love to do a mini-marathon of his work in adapting novels into screenplays for movies of varying quality.

People got mad when I wrote about “Hamnet” setting up as the Oscar season villain because I guess they thought I was saying it deserved to be. I wasn’t, but seeing the tone of the negative reviews (amid a lot of positive reviews), I’m confident in saying I was right. www.vulture.com/article/osca...
