Kay, a 45 year-old single mother, learns that she has magical abilities, and also that the recent murders are actually killer vampires. Life suddenly got a lot more complicated. Because killer vampires don't mean you don't still have to do the laundry.

Man, Swype was great when it first came out. I loved it. Now I am going back to being Typing-Two-Thumbs, because it's just as fast and more correct.

I am so tired of the current trend in which people think they can just say anything which comes to the front of their head. It's appalling. And unnecessary. And often cruelly stupid. Stupidly cruel.

(What a thing to teach their kids, as well, ugh.)

I hope she gets legos in personal places.

Absolutely not. (I am a knitter.) I concentrate and pay attention better when my hands are occupied. Also, they're making something interesting.

Aww, Mr Babbage. How nice to see you're still entirely relevant!

This is tremendously useful in letting me know that nothing they write can be trusted

I have links to audio of myself reading fanfiction, if you're interested in that.

Yeah, I'd buy Tor books directly from Tor, because of Amazon's DRM screwiness.

AFAIK, yes, they're the only big 5 imprint refusing to use DRM. I really wish publishers would remember that their actual customers would like to *own the things they buy*. Ugh.

Out walking Chester and a group of school children - obviously a PE class -all ran by us.

One girl was half walking - half running behind everyone, clearly struggling.

Another girl looked back, saw them and slowed down, then walked alongside the slower child, saying “Let’s walk together”.

Windows 10 goes out of support today. My fave useless fact about w10 is that the iconic blue desktop background is a *photograph* - not CGI.

Tiny 'making of' vid here - youtu.be/_2RacX9DgWM...
Three images showing photographers in a studio, standing around a black curtained area with a projector and a 'Windows' logo etched onto a glass pane. The lower image shows a version of the iconic blue windows background, with blue lasers outlining and passing through an angled Windows logos against a dark background.

Calling me out by name like this is so rude.

I have so MANY novel ideas just waiting for me to have time and brain, ugh.

I've been struggling with making blog posts on my website and I just remembered I've got the WordPress app on my phone!

Guess who just made a post! Guess who's probably going to make multiple posts weekly!

Me!!

Depends on the bad take. Most of the time I screen shot it and go to my Discord With Friends and rant about how stupid humans are.

It takes a specific kind of bad take for me to respond here.
joangrey.bsky.social
Oooooooohhhhhh!! Yay!!
joangrey.bsky.social
No, my kid was not human at 8:20 in the AM. To be fair, I'm not great at that time without a bucket of coffee, but we wouldn't have been able to attend any event that early.

Yes, school was hard for both of us.

Now that we have enough video series where celebrities eat or cook or hang out in a kitchen, I will start one where I interview famous people while we hand wash a sink full of dishes

Neither of those time slots works, wtF!?

That's ridiculous.

I am not buying on Kindle because they stopped allowing me to download the book files for books I purchased.

Knowing your books are available drm-free means I can buy them and load them into my preferred epub reading app. I'll go check them out.
joangrey.bsky.social
Oh! If they're drm-free, then I can just load them into my preferred (non-kindle) epub reader app. Cool beans!

You gently run your hand through the rack. You can feel it—pure cotton, rich wool, Irish linen. The plump buttonholes are handsewn; the buttons attached with a firm shank. You flip the price tag over. It's affordable

You buy the jacket and go home, which is only 15 mins away. Your apt is $600/month

Heh. I'm 4'9" and ended up (twice!) with 6'3" guys. I'm not deliberately looking for Tall Men, but it's very nice to have someone nearby who can reach things off the top shelf. 😁

We must look very silly together when we're out.
