Eugenics isn't really understood by many, but it's time to uncover the past and present of this morally corrupt influence in policy, healthcare, and govt for all to see. To know it is to reject it and work toward change.
"We're Still Here with Simon and Julie" isn't just about history, but also the here and now. Loving it and learning from it, storytelling that's truth telling we all need today. #HappyIndigenousPeoplesDay
If you missed our segment on @johnfugelsang.bsky.social’s show last week, catch @simonmoyasmith.bsky.social & me here for free. We talk about Columbus Day (basically the Confederate flag of holidays),the Ambler mining road in Alaska, ICE raids, & more.

We start with 🧬, healthcare gaps + advocacy in our @matthewzachary.bsky.social interview, "Genes of Wrath," but end with a (true) nerdy #horror story.

Our challenge isn't always in making a choice, but in noticing we had one in the 1st place. @wildhopetv.bsky.social is a shining example of brilliant choices: see www.wildhope.tv

I have been trying to get this published as an op-ed, but I am going to post it here since I think it is timely in light of the "consent" extortion events.

Why do we keep getting sucked into the game of politics?

Governing is not a game.

Governing is about representation, finding compromises, and balance. Finding a way for us to thrive.

Are farmer’s needs being met? Are the iron ore worker’s feel secure? Do the healthcare provider’s feel heard?

Have lived by this quote ever since I first read it from Jane Goodall, my heroine.
A must read article and definitely reshaped my views on impacts AI is having all around us. Thx for sharing this.
expected and terribly saddening
Did the US "govt" shut down so that certain individuals could go forward with their plans without senators' or representatives' interference + without accountability or transparency? Seems all too convenient somehow...as I watch more science + health colleagues lose their jobs. #Scicomm #shutdown
Finished "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents" today, enlightening book by @isabelwilkerson.bsky.social - basis of "Origin" from @duvernay.bsky.social - both essentials for all in the US to read + view. They understand, witness, even predict the painful chaos we live in, yet offer hope. #Booksky
Experienced Ava Duvernay's beautifully creative bio pic "Origin" last night, that shines a light in the dark corners of our collective consciousness right now + inspires the heart. On Hulu. Don't miss it! If not now, when? @duvernay.bsky.social #inspiration #movies #biography

I worked with Hepatitis B HBV in research as a scientist at AECOM in NYC, and know we must not underestimate hepatitis' tragic effects - not only disease and organ failure but also in causing cancer. Baby's vaccines save lives from all that by preventing the infection in the first place. #Scicomm
