After all these years, this was the first time I've been to Raleigh. I managed to avoid HQ the entire time that I worked at Red Hat. I guess I shouldn't have been that surprised when I recognized Davie St and lo and behold there it was.

I think a browser update just helped with this? not sure yet.
but I have noticed that my focus modes trigger at random times. My "work" one just turned on a Sunday when it's configured for weekdays only. I've had it also turn on at the time when it's supposed to turn off on weekdays.

We were in the peninsula yesterday, so we stopped by the Great Glass Pumpkin Patch 🎃 in Palo Alto yesterday! It was a local charity event by the public library and a glass blowing studio in SJC.

A collection of glass pumpkins in front of a tree each a shade of orange with a green stem.

A shelf setup with a variety of glass objects: some pumpkins with witches hats, apples, ghosts, and notably a bat hanging from chains.

This book (Code Health Guardian by Artie Shevchenko) came recommended by an experienced software engineer as a great read.

Starting it now. On first glance, it looks like a promising one, going back to software engineering basics that start to become more important with GenAI

Unless I'm reading this badly wrong and the administration puts out contrary implementation, it would appear that starting tonight, anyone with an H-1B who doesn't write a $100,000 check to the US government is banned from reentering the country if they're currently outside the US.
