This work was my first job as a geologist. We tested the soil around underground oil & gas storage tanks in Connecticut (a state with a LOT of regulations around this thankfully, because they can literally poison people's water). The fact that there was only ONE guy doing this is already horrific.

I brought this up repeatedly at the journalism conference yesterday organized by the New York Press club, including asking @sulliview.bsky.social about it.
I'm seeing a whole lot less outrage for the journalists of color who have been systematically discarded at places like NBC and CBS (and across journalism, really) than the response to Jimmy Kimmel's 5-day suspension.
