I watched both The Compleat Beatles and Behind The Beat obsessively before Anthology came along. I'd still watch them regularly if my video player still worked!

Pete Best said he didn’t have any input on the Beatles Anthology. Back when we used to get ad breaks, this commercial ran after the first segment. We don’t get these sort of things anymore in the streaming days 🍺🥁 youtu.be/pl_BpvLbaLY?...

"My first introduction to Ivor Cutler was his 1975 album, Velvet Donkey. It sounded like I’d stumbled upon some ancient relic; a pre-historic recording that only a select few had ever been granted the golden opportunity to hear"

It's going to be hard to whittle these down to 5. And I'll probably think of some more along the way.... #5debutalbums7074

Another top episode with @stevenc63.bsky.social Spot on reflections on Paul's performance. For You Blue was such a good choice. And I love the moment with Macca and Ringo shouting "And there's the 12 bar blues!" together. Brilliant!
Part 2 of our chat about Concert for George with @stevenc63.bsky.social is now LIVE, and there's lots to discuss!

🍏What are the standout performances?
🍏Paul treads VERY carefully. How much credit does he deserve for how he handles this?
🍏Was Joe Brown getting the closing number a surprise?

Go to that gig. listen to that song, dust off that record player, learn to play that guitar.
Music helps us through. Life can be overwhelming at times. Music can help, I promise you that

Thanks @johnp69.bsky.social for another great party. I don't mind admitting to you all that I've only got to grips with 70s rock music recently, having always preferred soul and funk once we get to the 70s. But I think that's why I've always rated George's solo stuff from this period #extratexture50

Piano intro for His Name Is Legs is totally Oh! You Pretty Things. And the rest of it is Dark Horse. Haha! #extratexture50

I don't like the sound of the drums on Grey Cloudy Lies, they're too overpowering. Everything else is arranged well and it's a lovely melody too #extratexture50

Tired Of Midnight Blue is another mood tune. Dreamy in a nightmareish way or nightmareish in a dreamy way? Can't decide. Haha! #extratexture50

Can't Stop Thinking About You is maybe my least favourite. There's not much to it but Klaus' bass stands out #extratexture50

World Of Stone is another song that sounds rooted in a 70s soul mould. And I like it. David Foster is the star of the show here #extratexture50

Ooh Baby is not so much of a song as a mood. I don't think this is a bad thing #extratexture50

But, to me, it does sound like it was the guitar on This Guitar that Macca was trying to emulate on Now and Then #extratexture50

This version of This Guitar annoys me a bit. I wish he would be himself rather than trying to imitate Dylan #extratexture50
November 22, 2025 at 9:11 PM
I love how the song breaks down from "we think so little..." Such a lovely arrangement #extratexture50
November 22, 2025 at 9:08 PM
The Answer's At The End feels like a song following on from LITMW but there's a proper 70s soul feeling to the song too #extratexture50
