A great *Canadian* city isn't one where the geese use roads, but one where the racoons use transit.

During the #TubeStrikes, fellow Londoners remember the Overground lines, Elizabeth line, and bus network are still operating but will be busier than usual or hire a SantanderCycles e-bike.
#TfL is for the first time seeking a sponsorship for an entire Tube line: The Waterloo & City line shuttling between Waterloo and Bank stations.

Best case scenario: #AbbaVoyage should sponsor it and have Waterloo playing on one end and MoneyMoneyMoney on the other

For #London 's Santander Cycles' 15th birthday, you can hire #bikes and e-bikes for FREE every Sunday in August!

Make sure to bring it back within 1 hour to not be charged, but then can hire it again and again for free

Use code CYCLESUNDAYS plus the date (so CYCLESUNDAYS03 for this Sunday the 3rd)
Mark Carney's #StrongBordersAct is to appease Trump.

It lets police see your internet history, IP address, and open your mail all without a warrant.

Instead let's actually make our borders stronger:
- Stop guns from illegally entering #Canada
- Stop the $1bn worth of stolen cars exported annually
I largely agree with Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson's #Abundance: Speed up approvals and lower costs to deliver more.

But, I worry what #Ontario is doing with Bill 5 is where these ideas lead. Cutting all reviews and environmental protections for whatever the #government wants.

Croydon Labour MP lays out a key piece missing for the UK's growth: A long-term funding deal for the only transport authority in the country without one, Transport for London.

Long-term funding allows for future planning and 100k jobs across 477 constituencies.

Investing in Transport for London is a pro-growth move
Successive Tory regimes failed Transport for London. By creating a long-term funding deal for the city's famous transport system, this Labour gover...

I usually just write off the #US as a lost cause. But this got my attention.
The bill destroys all the #climate progress they're making just to spite Biden. They don't seem to care that it concedes these industries to China, raises energy prices, and 80% of the jobs would've been in republican areas
Let's be real: if Republicans pass the House budget bill as is, it will murder the US nuclear industry, ruin our chances of winning the AI race (by constraining power supply), concede the global auto sector to China, and vaporize about half a trillion dollars of US manufacturing investment...
This clip is how you actually do #journalism: inform your audience and then put the contradictions directly to those misleading you to defend.

Great work Anushka Asthana and the team at Peston and ITV

Out of curiosity, what makes you think that (other than his statement about not being in the cabinet)?
I have a wild idea for who should be the next #NDP leader: Nate Erskine-Smith

After being snubbed from cabinet, he should defect and run for leader

He's bilingual, communicates well through podcasts and social media, and has pushed hard for popular, progressive and practical ideas

What's needed?

Express routes across outer London: Superloop
Tube lines in south London: Bakerloo extension
Walkability on busy streets: car-free Oxford street
East road crossings: Silvertown tunnel
Connections to new housing: West London Orbital & DLR extensions

Is your legacy Boris's cable car?
On #transport, former policy advisor to then mayor Boris Johnson claims @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social isn't doing enough.
Yes, it will be a long time before #Crossrail 2, but new lines in from outer #London and beyond are less urgently needed as remote working has grown

Sadiq Khan is squandering the success of the Elizabeth Line
Despite the popularity and success of the Elizabeth Line, other major transport projects in the capital are in limbo

With CBC now having called all ridings it's time for the land-vs-people-vote animation.
Lots of infighting between Conservatives for who is to blame for their loss in #Canada

Newly re-elected conservative MP Jamil Jivani is blaming Doug Ford for "sabotaging the Conservatives' campaign" and being a "hype man for the Liberal party".

Yea that's why I put likely. It's mostly the early votes that are left to count, and both the NDP and Liberals typically vote early so they may not change.
Plus, Pierre Poilievre LOST his seat to one of the 90 candidates against him, though by over 50% so it was an actual majority of voters.

Will Poilievre stay on as the Conservative leader? Will he force a by-election somewhere to get back in parliament?
The #Canada #election was wild.

Out of the 7 (likely) #NDP MPs, who should be their next leader?

Leah Gazan, Winnipeg
Alexandre Boulerice, Montréal
Heather McPherson, Edmonton
Gord Johns, Vancouver Island
Jenny Kwan, Vancouver
Lori Idlout ᓘᕆ ᐃᓪᓚᐅᖅ, Nunavut
Don Davies, Vancouver

I was there at the Toronto Van attack in 2018, and I am really disappointed with the #Vancouver police, they're dismissing the idea that they should have put temporary concrete barriers between where heavy vehicles can be and where a street festival is taking place.

It's not "barricading people in"
The parody Rhinoceros Party promises to:
- Promote carpooling by putting the brake pedal on the passenger side of all vehicles
- Force manufacturers to build more green cars: forest green, pale green, khaki green and neon green
- All existing vehicles will be green by 2027 with DIY green paint kits
Pedneault & May's #Greens promise to:
- Condition federal bus funds to zero-emission fleets
- Require all ferries to convert to hybrid/electric
- Build High-Speed Rail Toronto-Québec City & Edmonton-Calgary
- Fund bike lanes
- Remove sales tax on new and used EVs
- Nationalize CN's freight rail line
Blanchet's #Bloc Québécois promises to:
- Double transit funding
- Allow funds to maintain transit fleets
- Fund the EV charging network
- Require manufacturers sell a share of EVs
- One-time use tax credits for buying/leasing new/used EVs
- Tax credit for transit passes
- Support High-Speed #Rail
Singh's #NDP promises to:
- Fund transit operations not just investments
- Re-establish rural bus routes
- Build public High-Speed Rail Windsor-Québec City & Edmonton-Calgary-Banff
- Rebate $5k off electric vehicles (not China-made / Tesla), $10k if Canada-made
- Prioritize homebuilding near transit
Poilievre's #Conservatives promise to:
- Condition transit funding on increased density
- Fast-track approval of resource railways
- Harmonize trucking regulations
- Build an all-season arctic road to Grays Bay
- End tolls on PEI's confederation bridge
- Fund a road tunnel in Québec City, not a tram
